Introduction

Welcome to our school, where educational and social development go hand in hand. Our tailored focus on academics and the whole child means that every child will find a happy home here.

Our School

The school was officially opened in January 2006. It is a public secondary school located in the suburb of Makhado Town (extension 8, commonly known as Makhado Park). The medium of instruction is English.

 BACKGROUND OF COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC STATUS.

The community within which the school is situated can best be described as follows:

• About 80% of the inhabitants are professionals, most of them educators.
• Some of the people working in the nearby Kutama Sinthumule Prison (SACM) live in this suburb.
• This area is still expanding since a lot of people from the surrounding villages migrate to town and live in this area.
• About 99% of people living in this area are blacks and about 1% is coloured.
• The 3 dominant ethnic groups are Venda, Tsonga and Northern Sotho.

LEARNERS ATTENDING THIS SCHOOL

Surprisingly only about 25% of the learners attending school at Makhado Comprehensive Secondary School are from this area. The majority of them are bused into the school from the surrounding villages and nearby extensions of this Town. The reason being that most families residing at Makhado Park are still in their late thirties and mid-forties and thus their children are still at primary levels.

 Currently(2011), the school has an enrolment of 981  learners with only 28 permanent classrooms . Four of the permanent classrooms are used as an admin block, Science Laboratory, Computer Centre and  staff  room

PERSONNEL

The school has highly educated and experienced teaching staff. The seven members of the School Management Team (HODs) are highly qualified. The School Manager has a Masters Degree in Educational Management. The School Governing Body (SGB) is mainly composed of professionals who are experienced in school governance matters.
